Mehbooba says raids on BBC’s offices in India “brazen hounding of critics”

Srinagar, February 15, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, People Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, has said that raids by India’s Income Tax department sleuths at the BBC’s offices in Mumbai and Delhi were “brazen hounding of the critics” of the BJP-led Indian government.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said, the cause and effect of the raids on the BBC office is quite obvious. She said, the Modi government is brazenly hounding those who speak the truth; be it opposition leaders, media, activists or anyone else for that matter. The gloves are off and there is a price one pays for fighting for truth, she added.

The Income Tax Department action, part of an investigation into alleged tax evasion, comes weeks after the British Broadcasting Corporation aired a two-part documentary – “India: The Modi Question” – depicting his role in the 2002 anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat during his tenure as Chief Minister.
