Mehbooba says Modi govt granting freedom to criminals, Kashmiri political prisoners left to die in jails 

Srinagar, October 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party President, and Mehbooba Mufti, has said that the Narendra Modi-led Indian fascist government is setting the criminals and rapists free but has left the Kashmiri political prisoners to die in jails. She said this while reacting to the demise of senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Altaf Ahmad Shah, who died in the Indian custody. Mehbooba Mufti talking to reporters in Srinagar, today, said not only was Altaf Shah made to suffer, but his family is also being made to wait to receive his dead body so that they can perform his last rites. The family has been waiting since morning at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi, to get Altaf Shah’s dead body, she said.

The PDP chief said it is not about Altaf Shah only, activist Stan Swamy died in jail for the want of treatment. She pointed out that many Kashmiri political prisoners are suffering from multiple ailments, but nobody pays attention to their plight. The Modi government on the other hand not only frees crime convicts but also felicitates these criminals, she said in an referent reference to the release of Hindutva goons involved in the rape of Muslim woman, Bilkis Bano, and murder of her family members during anti-Muslim riots in the Indian state of Gujarat in 2002.

Mehbooba Mufti said, thousands of Kashmiri youths are in jails, religious scholars are raided and they are jailed. She maintained that today, India’s National Investigation Agency raided religious scholar in Bandipora, Rehmatullah, because some days back he had given a statement on religious interference by the Indian authorities.
