Srinagar, May 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Various political parties in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have underscored the need for unity to thwart Modi-led Indian government’s onslaught on honour and dignity of the Kashmiri people.
Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, at a party function in Srinagar said people of Jammu and Kashmir will have to unite to fight back the attack on their culture and identity. She said Jammu and Kashmir is facing many challenges post abrogation of Article 370 including attempts to disempower the local people.
“The situation is such that laws are being brought here with the aim of ending the land (holding of locals). What is the purpose of removing stamp duty on land deals? We have to understand these things,” she added. Referring to the termination of government employees she said, “This is done without any proof. The affected employees are scared to approach the court as they fear they will be booked and jailed on terror charges if they do so. Vacancies are not being filled as they (administration) are waiting for people from outside to apply for these jobs. We are being disempowered and weakened. They are attacking our dignity,” she said.
Mehbooba Mufti said that the condition of Indian Muslims was even worse than the Kashmiris.
The chief spokesperson for Indian National Congress in IIOJK, Ravinder Sharma, rebutting the claim of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) that everything is fine with the Delimitation report, said the CEC’s assertions lack any convincing arguments. He said the vast majority of people irrespective of political affiliations, caste, creed, colour, religion and region was raising voice against several anomalies in the report.
The Congress Working President in IIOJK, Raman Bhalla, said that the public would teach a lesson to the BJP in Assembly elections in the territory. “Everyone knows what happened in J and K after giving them mandate, people are now realizing that they have committed a mistake by giving majority to BJP,” he said, adding that people of J and K are eagerly waiting for the next available opportunity to teach BJP and its allies a lesson for letting them down and not fulfilling promises made to them.
