Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti, President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reaffirmed her party’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights, dignity, and identity of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This declaration comes amidst the backdrop of recent election trends indicating BJP’s lead in several states.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti, while speaking at a party convention in Kupwara, emphasized the need for unity among party members and supporters in the face of considerable challenges. She expressed optimism about the prospects of opposition parties in the 2024 elections, following the recent polls where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appeared to secure victories in three out of four states.
The Election Commission’s trends showed the BJP leading in significant numbers of seats across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. Despite these developments, Mufti focused on addressing local issues, choosing not to comment on the delay in elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Her visit to Kupwara was primarily aimed at addressing the concerns and problems faced by the people in the region. The PDP’s stance and efforts under Mufti’s leadership highlight the party’s dedication to representing and advocating for the interests and rights of Kashmiris in the political landscape of the region.
