Mehbooba Mufti Questions Delayed Elections in Rajouri, Continues Campaign

Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti, President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced concerns over the delayed elections in the Islamabad-Rajouri seat, attributing the postponement to manipulative tactics by the BJP-installed authorities in Kashmir aimed at influencing voter sentiment and undermining the regional identity of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, during her campaign stops in Maniyal Gali, Rajouri, Mufti emphasized the crucial role of the upcoming elections in preserving the distinct identity of Jammu and Kashmir. She challenged the central government’s decisions since August 5, 2019, advocating for their reversal to restore the region’s autonomy.

Mufti expressed her commitment to representing the region despite the logistical challenges of campaigning in remote areas. She highlighted her familial ties to the region, drawing on the legacy of her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, to reinforce her connection and dedication to the area’s people. Her campaign focuses on garnering support to address local challenges and represent their interests forcefully at the national level.
