Mehbooba Mufti Critiques Government’s Performance in IIOJK Post-Article 370

Srinagar: Mehbooba Mufti, President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has publicly challenged the effectiveness of the administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir following the repeal of Article 370.

According to Kashmir Media Service, while addressing PDP members in Srinagar, Mufti criticized the administrative decisions that led to the bifurcation of the territory, which she claims has only increased the difficulties faced by its residents. “What have they achieved in these five years? The people of Ladakh are suffering, so are the people of Jammu. Jammu used to be the hub of the economy, but today they are suffering, let alone the people of Kashmir, who feel suffocated,” she commented.

Mufti also pointed to the recent Parliamentary elections in North Kashmir as evidence of the population’s discontent, noting a significant turn towards self-determination sentiments among voters. She condemned the continued application of stringent measures such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Public Safety Act (PSA), which she believes are being misused to suppress the local populace.
