Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the Peoples Democratic Party, has condemned the recent dismissal of a teacher in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by the authorities for alleged anti-India activities. She characterizes this action as part of a broader strategy to criminalize the Kashmiri population and strip them of their means of livelihood.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti’s strong rebuke came in response to the termination of Manzoor Ahmed Laway, a teacher from Kulgam, under accusations of engaging in activities against the state. In her statement from Srinagar, Mufti argued that such dismissals serve as a form of collective punishment aimed at dispossessing and disempowering the people of Kashmir.
This incident adds to the growing concerns over the treatment of Kashmiri professionals and civil servants in the region, highlighting tensions between local identities and the administrative policies enforced in IIOJK.
