Mehbooba Mufti Commits to Keeping Kashmir Issue in Political Spotlight

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has vowed to maintain the visibility of the Kashmir issue in political discussions, opposing efforts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to sideline the topic in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a media briefing in Tral, South Kashmir, Mufti emphasized the PDP’s dedication to keeping the Kashmir conflict at the forefront of their agenda. She stated, “Our primary concern is to keep the Kashmir issue alive. The BJP wants to bury it, but the PDP will continue the struggle to resolve it.” Mufti also highlighted various local challenges such as unemployment, drug addiction, rising prices, and developmental issues, affirming her commitment to address these problems to enhance the welfare of the local population.

Additionally, Mufti discussed the recent release of Engineer Rashid, questioning the timing relative to the upcoming Assembly elections and suggesting that a release during the parliamentary session would have been more beneficial for addressing the issues of the people directly. She also called attention to the continued detention of many young people from IIOJK, advocating for their release as well.
