Srinagar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti has called for solidarity among the residents of occupied Jammu and Kashmir to resist the Narendra Modi-led government’s efforts that she claims aim to dilute the region’s identity and suppress the aspirations of its people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press interaction in Srinagar, Mufti highlighted the critical need for unity and a collective stance to advocate for the rights of the people in the occupied territory. She addressed the internal discord within the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), emphasizing her commitment to unity and cooperation among local political factions to confront the challenges imposed by the Indian government.
Mufti clarified that the political struggle in Jammu and Kashmir transcends electoral victories or defeats, focusing instead on the broader goal of preserving the region’s identity and ensuring opportunities for its youth. She advocated for a unified approach to demonstrate resistance to policies perceived as detrimental to the rights and welfare of the Kashmiri people.
Stressing the importance of collective action in times of adversity, Mufti encouraged the populace to actively support each other and oppose any actions that undermine their communal and individual rights. She also highlighted the hardships faced by families of detainees held in prisons outside the region, underscoring the need for legal support and the restoration of essential services to affected households.
In her appeal, Mufti sought to galvanize the people of Jammu and Kashmir, urging them to stand together against perceived injustices and to lend their voices to the cause of defending their rights and dignity amid ongoing challenges.
