Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, has urged the government to clarify its stance on Article 370, emphasizing its significance to the people who have entrusted the current administration with a significant mandate.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti, while addressing reporters in Budgam, criticized the government’s discreet handling of Article 370 in the Assembly, despite having 50 members. She stated, “The government should have mentioned Article 370 without feeling ashamed of it. They should have condemned the August 5, 2019, decision first, but that was not done at all.”
Mufti called on the government to articulate its position regarding the resolution passed in the Assembly, highlighting the need to condemn the August 5 decision and explicitly address Article 370. She also referenced the Congress’s claim that the resolution aimed at restoring Statehood rather than Article 370, urging the government to clarify this ambiguity.
She further remarked that due to the resolution’s lack of clarity, the National Conference, Congress, and especially the government, must distinctly state whether the resolution pertains to Statehood restoration or Article 370.
