Mehbooba Mufti Asserts Kashmiris Will Respond to BJP at Polls

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Mehbooba Mufti has stated that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are prepared to use the upcoming assembly elections to voice their discontent with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti expressed that the BJP’s actions, particularly the abrogation of Article 370 five years ago, have left the residents of Jammu and Kashmir deeply aggrieved. She anticipates that this sentiment will manifest strongly in their electoral response. “What they (BJP) did 5 years ago to Jammu and Kashmir, the people are very angry for that and will reply with the ballot during the upcoming assembly election,” Mufti remarked during a press interaction.

The former IIOJK Chief Minister also commented on the BJP’s criticism of regional parties in Kashmir, suggesting that the BJP’s narrative is a reaction to the strong public support for the PDP. She emphasized that the people’s desire to respond to the BJP through the ballot is evident, hinting at a robust democratic challenge in the forthcoming elections.
