Srinagar: Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), recently addressed a large gathering of the party’s youth wing delegates in Srinagar, emphasizing the PDP’s commitment to peace and democratic solutions in Kashmir. The meeting highlighted the active participation of Kashmiri youth in political processes, reflecting their vital role in the region’s future.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti praised the efforts of the youth during the recent parliamentary elections and reiterated her dedication to initiatives aimed at reducing tensions, such as ceasefire agreements, dialogue with separatists, and the opening of roads to enhance connectivity and peace. She criticized the Indian government’s use of force in managing dissent in the region, particularly pointing to the mass detentions and the application of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as tools of oppression.
Mufti’s comments addressed the broader issues of governance and conflict in IIOJK, underscoring the need for dialogue and reconciliation to bridge gaps between Kashmir and the rest of India, and to seek peaceful coexistence with neighboring areas.
