Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti emphasized the need for a dignified peace in Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the current state of affairs since the abrogation of Article 370 five years ago.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a party meeting at the PDP headquarters, Mufti articulated her vision for peace that transcends mere absence of conflict, likening the current calm to the “silence of graveyards.” The meeting also marked the return of former Rajouri MLA Chaudhary Qamar Hussain to the PDP after his brief stint with the Altaf Bukhari-led Apni Party.
Mufti’s remarks came amidst discussions of the region’s challenges and the political landscape following significant constitutional changes in 2019. She also called for the resumption of cross-Line of Control trade and bus services, which have been suspended, as steps toward normalizing conditions and fostering peace in the region.
