Mehbooba barred from visiting Pandit family, placed under house arrest in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities today put Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, under house arrest in Srinagar to prevent her from visiting a Pandit family who lost a member in an attack in Budgam yesterday.

Mehbooba Mufti said that the authorities disallowed her from visiting the Pandit family of the deceased person in Budgam and put her under house detention.

“Wanted to visit Budgam to express my solidarity with Kashmiri Pandits protesting against GOI’s [Government of India’s] failure to protect them. Have been put under house arrest as the fact that Kashmiri Muslims and Pandits empathise with each other’s pain doesn’t fit into their vicious communal narrative,” Mufti tweeted.

On Thursday, police said that unknown gunmen fired upon the migrant Pandit employee identified as Rahul Bhat, an employee in the local Tehsil office, at Chadoora in Budgam district. He was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Chadoora where from he was shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for specialized treatment but later on succumbed to his injuries.
