Meeting for Divestment Plan of PIACL Spearheaded by Caretaker Federal Minister

Karachi, In a significant move towards the divestment of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL), the Caretaker Federal Minister for Privatisation, Fawad Hasan Fawad, recently chaired a crucial meeting with Earnest and Young, the appointed Financial Advisor. The agenda focused on discussing the future investment roadmap and immediate funding needs of the airline.

According to Privatisation Commission, Earnest and Young presented a detailed business plan during the meeting. This plan outlined the capital and fleet requirements for PIACL in the short and medium term, aiming to enhance its viability and global competitiveness. The Federal Minister, in response, called for further rationalization of these projections before they are submitted for the federal cabinet’s approval.

The comprehensive proposal also included a legal segregation plan and a transaction structure. These, along with the business plan and valuation methodology, are set to be presented to the federal cabinet for final ratification. The meeting marks a crucial step in the restructuring and privatization process of PIACL, reflecting the government’s commitment to revitalize the national carrier and position it more competitively in the global aviation industry.
