Karachi: During his visit to China, Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, engaged in a meeting with the Mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zheng, to discuss strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation between the two cities.
In the meeting, the Mayor of Shanghai provided insights into the city’s urban transport system, known for its modernity and efficiency. The system’s planning, technology, and sustainable development principles were highlighted as a global model.
Mayor Wahab visited the Shanghai Transportation Command Center, where he learned about the city’s traffic management and the use of modern technology in urban transport. Both mayors agreed to exchange experiences and promote cooperation in urban development, public transport, environmental protection, and infrastructure.
Mayor Wahab praised Shanghai’s urban system, calling it a model for Karachi. During his visit, he is scheduled to tour other municipal centers in Shanghai and meet with urban leaders and technical experts.
The visit aims to strengthen the relationship between Karachi and Shanghai and explore new urban development opportunities. Mayor Wahab’s commitment to adopting international standards for Karachi’s development reflects ongoing efforts to modernize the city.
Mayor Gong Zheng emphasized the importance of collaboration on developmental projects and public welfare initiatives, underscoring the strong economic partnership between Pakistan and China at the municipal level.
