Karachi, The Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has inaugurated a football match at Kakri Ground in Lyari, underscoring the local talent and his commitment to enhancing sports facilities in the area.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab spoke at the event on Saturday, highlighting the wealth of sporting talent in Lyari and the broader Karachi district. He announced the construction of a sports complex at Kakri Ground to further encourage athletic pursuits among the youth. The Pakistan Peoples Party, he noted, is actively working to promote positive activities for young people and is expanding sports infrastructure across all districts of Karachi.
The inauguration was attended by Mayor Karachi’s Special Representative for Political Affairs Karamullah Waqasi, the Deputy Commissioner South, members of the Polio Team, and other officials.
Mayor Wahab remarked that Lyari has been and will continue to be a stronghold of the People’s Party. He praised the city’s youth for their talents across various sports, pointing out that Karachi has produced national champions in cricket, hockey, snooker, squash, and more. Emphasizing the importance of sports facilities to foster healthy and positive engagement among the youth, he stated that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is actively working on improving playgrounds, stadiums, and sports complexes in different districts to encourage youth participation in sports.
This initiative reflects the local government’s recognition of sports as a vital component of community development and youth engagement in Karachi.
