Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab marked Independence Day with a message of unity and sacrifice, emphasizing the importance of freedom and acknowledging the sacrifices of Pakistan’s forefathers. During a flag hoisting ceremony at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) headquarters, he extended congratulations to the nation and urged citizens to celebrate freedom year-round.
Mayor Wahab stressed that the nation would unite against any threats to Pakistan’s sovereignty. He referenced the response to the Modi regime, crediting the Pakistani armed forces and citizens for their resilience. He also highlighted the nation’s solidarity in sending a strong message to Israel.
The ceremony, attended by Municipal Commissioner KMC Afzal Zaidi, City Council members, elected representatives, and KMC staff, provided a platform for Mayor Wahab to discuss the role of KMC in delivering civic services. He urged employees to prioritize public service and committed to addressing Karachi’s longstanding issues through an integrated strategy.
