Mayor of Karachi Calls for Action and Unity on Independence Day


Karachi: On Independence Day, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the importance of action over words during his address at Mazar-e-Quaid, where he paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Mayor Wahab highlighted the need for Pakistanis to recommit to the country’s founding ideology and acknowledged the sacrifices made for independence.



Mayor Wahab addressed recent tensions with India, affirming Pakistan’s readiness to defend itself while lauding the country’s armed forces for their vigilance. He stated, “Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, but we will respond forcefully to any threats.”



The Mayor noted the ongoing Independence Day celebrations, marking 13 days of national unity and enthusiasm, with the main event at National Stadium Karachi attracting thousands. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s resilience against external pressures and conspiracies.



Highlighting recent development projects, Mayor Wahab praised the new water supply initiative from Hub Dam, a project by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, as evidence of tangible progress in Karachi. He dismissed misinformation about the project and criticized incomplete past initiatives like the K-IV project.



Addressing political dynamics, Mayor Wahab urged MQM leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mustafa Kamal to focus on delivering results for Karachi, emphasizing that citizens demand performance over promises. He concluded by declaring an end to negative politics, advocating for a culture of knowledge and progress under Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership.



The Independence Day address underscored a call for unity, action, and development, reflecting Mayor Wahab’s commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Karachi.
