Mayor Murtaza Wahab Calls for Efficient Legal Defense of KMC Cases

Karachi, 17 Oct 2023:In a recent meeting at his office, Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, directed the Law Department to actively defend the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s cases pending in various courts. He outlined a strategy that prioritizes recovery and land-related cases before addressing other routine legal matters. Acknowledging the current backlog, with over 3,305 cases pending across various courts, the Mayor emphasized the importance of comprehensive case preparation, coordination, and detailed examination.

He also highlighted the achievements of the past year where several cases were resolved across multiple courts. Furthermore, he pushed for timely recoveries related to KMC huts at HawkesBay and urged for quick settlements in cases related to Boulton Market, Slaughter House, and Municipal Utility Charges Tax to improve the corporation’s recovery.
