Mayor Karachi Presents PPP’s Ten-Point Agenda for Pakistan’s Progress

Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, representing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has outlined a comprehensive ten-point agenda focusing on tackling Pakistan’s critical issues. This agenda was presented during a press conference at the lawn of Frere Hall on Saturday, following the renewed pledge of allegiance to Shaheed Bhutto’s philosophy.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Wahab emphasized that the PPP is the only party with a clear and actionable plan to alleviate the country’s issues, including hunger, poverty, unemployment, and lawlessness. The PPP’s agenda is a promise to the 25 million people of Pakistan, focusing on equitable rights and breaking away from elitist governance.

The Mayor highlighted that the upcoming general election is an opportunity for the PPP to showcase its past achievements and future plans to the public. Unlike other political parties that are centered around leader imagery, the PPP’s approach is solution-oriented, building on its past successes and credibility.

Wahab detailed the PPP’s manifesto, which includes doubling salaries in five years, building 30 lakh houses for flood affectees, and providing 300 units of free electricity to farmers. He also spoke about the successful completion of the Thar Coal power project and the initiation of solar power in Karachi, with the first municipal solar park built at Kidney Hill.

The Mayor elaborated on the PPP’s initiatives for the poor and middle class, like the income support program, skill development facilities, and improvements in the social protection program. He emphasized the need for tax reforms, particularly in the collection of sales tax on services and goods, to increase state revenue and fund public welfare projects.

Addressing the need for factual discourse in politics, Wahab criticized misinformation and urged focusing on the positive aspects of Karachi and Sindh. He also addressed the issues of illegal activities by outdoor advertisers, assuring that KMC is handling these matters lawfully.

Concluding his statement, Wahab expressed confidence in the PPP’s vision for Pakistan’s future and its commitment to public service, aiming for a significant victory in the upcoming elections.
