Mayor Karachi Announces Activation of KMC Hospitals and Infrastructure Improvements

Karachi, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced a comprehensive plan to fully activate the hospitals run by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for the public’s benefit. The initiative includes meeting with medical professionals and exploring public-private partnerships to enhance the quality of healthcare facilities. Concurrently, significant efforts are underway to improve the city’s basic infrastructure, including road and sewage system repairs.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of improving medical facilities alongside the city’s basic infrastructure. He made these remarks during a visit to Sarfraz Rafiqi Shaheed Hospital and the South District, where he inspected ongoing development work on various roads. Municipal Commissioner Baldia Uzma Karachi, Syed Afzal Zaidi, and other officials accompanied him during the visit.

Mayor Wahab inspected different parts of Sarfaraz Rafiqi Shaheed Hospital, interacting with the administration and staff, and instructed them to make the hospital fully functional. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the hospital administration and committed to enhancing diagnosis and treatment facilities. He highlighted that KMC-run hospitals and medical institutions are crucial for the poor and middle-class citizens, offering affordable treatment compared to private hospitals. Mayor Wahab stressed the need to upgrade KMC hospitals through public-private partnerships to improve medical services.

In addition to healthcare improvements, Mayor Wahab discussed the necessity of upgrading the city’s infrastructure. He mentioned the ongoing work on Masham Ali Road and Nishtar Road near the Garden Police Headquarters, where sewage lines are being cleaned and restored before road construction begins. This approach aims to ensure the durability of the roads and prevent future damage.

The mayor’s plan reflects a holistic approach to urban development, addressing both healthcare and infrastructure needs. He asked the administration of Sarfraz Rafiqi Shaheed Hospital to provide suggestions for further improvements. Mayor Wahab also emphasized that the underground sewage system is being prioritized in road construction and repair projects to ensure long-lasting results. The completion of these projects is expected to ease transportation difficulties for citizens and enhance the overall quality of life in Karachi.
