Karachi: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, engaged in a meeting with the Leader of the Opposition in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Advocate Saif Uddin, to deliberate on the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The discussion aimed to enhance transparency and inclusivity in budget planning.
The meeting focused on projected revenues and collections for the forthcoming budget. Both parties emphasized the importance of aligning development priorities with the needs of the city’s population. Mayor Wahab welcomed input from the opposition, stressing the shared responsibility of elected representatives in shaping the city’s future.
Key topics included developmental portfolios, infrastructure projects, and long-term service delivery initiatives. Both leaders expressed their commitment to collaborative governance, agreeing to rise above political differences for the benefit of Karachi and its citizens.
Mayor Wahab also acknowledged the necessity of empowering local bodies, particularly concerning the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, to ensure efficient service delivery at the union council level.
The meeting was attended by KMC Municipal Commissioner S.M. Afzal Zaidi, PPP Parliamentary Leader Karamullah Waqasi, and other senior officials.
