Karachi, In a significant cultural event in Karachi, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the sketches by renowned artist Ali Azmat. The event, hosted by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, was attended by notable figures including Minister of Information Muhammad Ahmad Shah and Minister of Law Omar Soomro.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the role of art in society and its power to express emotions, ideas, and messages. He highlighted that art is a reflection of different cultures and traditions, and through it, societies can convey their values and aspirations. Mayor Wahab also stated the importance of exhibitions in educating the new generation about Pakistan’s history and the vision of its founder, Quaid-e-Azam, for a nation where all citizens have equal rights.
During the inauguration, Mayor Wahab spoke about the unique role of the Arts Council as a platform for the expression of painting and fine arts. He remarked on the historical significance of art in various societies, pointing out how different forms of art reflect the customs and history of those societies. By studying art from different times and places, Wahab noted, one can gain valuable insights into the values and aspirations of those societies.
The exhibition featured works by Ali Azmat, an artist known for using colors and textures to express diverse themes. Mayor Wahab appreciated how artists like Azmat use their work to highlight societal issues, inspire beauty in everyday life, and contribute to societal well-being.
Information Minister Muhammad Ahmad Shah and Law Minister Umar Soomro also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the importance of art in society and its role in shaping cultural and historical understanding.
