Karachi, Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, announced the commencement of several new development projects under the Sindh government’s current year’s budget. Among these is the foundation stone laying for a five-kilometer dual carriageway road extending from Nasir Brohi Hotel to Mubarak Village in Mauripur. Wahab made this announcement during the foundation laying ceremony held on Tuesday and emphasized the vision of service-oriented politics rather than a culture of criticism.
According to a news release by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Mayor Wahab highlighted the start of numerous development projects as part of the 120 new schemes approved in the Sindh government’s budget. He mentioned the recent tenders procured by KMC, which are currently underway, and the anticipated practical work on these projects to commence shortly.
Wahab, during his address, voiced the commitment of the Pakistan Peoples Party in upholding their promises. Quoting Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he reiterated that Karachi is for all its residents, and the current leadership aims to restore its glory through dedicated service and infrastructure development. This includes proper planning for the new roads, ensuring utility lines are in place, rainwater drainage systems are functional, and then paving the roads.
Listing other development projects, the Mayor cited the construction of Maripur Road, a road from Fish Chowk to Kennup, and a beachfront for Manora residents. In the future, plans for building an international standard youth center for the central district’s populace are also in the pipeline.
In addition to these initiatives, work around Asghar Shah Stadium has been initiated to improve its surrounding roads and drains. Furthermore, the construction of a bridge on Korangi Causeway is set to begin in the coming days.
Concluding his address, Mayor Wahab mentioned a forthcoming KMC Council meeting slated for after November 5. In this meeting, a resolution is planned to be introduced to name the Johar Underpass in honor of the Palestinian people and condemn Israel’s actions. He suggested that using social media and written publications would be more impactful in expressing such sentiments compared to wall chalking.
Deputy Mayor Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, and other dignitaries were present at the foundation laying ceremony and shared their insights on the occasion.
