Maulana Salman Nadwi opposes Modi’s plan to ban PFI

Lucknow, August 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Lucknow-based Islamic cleric Maulana Salman Nadwi has opposed the Modi regime’s plan to ban Popular Front of India (PFI), a social movement committed to empower downtrodden people, particularly Muslims, to ensure justice, freedom and security in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this comes in the wake of a conference under so-called All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, which was held in New Delhi at the behest of India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, a few days ago, to advance the Modi’s anti-Muslim plan. The demand to ban the PFI was raised from the platform to appease the regime in India.

Ajit Doval’s conference was an exercise to ban the Popular Front of India (PFI) that has become activated after scores of anti–Muslim hate crimes reported in India. Salman Nadwi said there cannot be a ground to ban the organisation. He asked why Hindutva organisations such as RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are not banned.

“It is not right to demand the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami, Tablighi Jamaat,” he said in a video interview uploaded on his YouTube channel. Nadwi who was also part of the conference said that no such resolution was brought before him. He added that he attended the conference just to promote interfaith harmony. “I was not even aware that some resolution was to be passed,” he added.
