Kraljevo: Serbia’s students and their supporters have gathered in Kraljevo for a significant anti-government protest. The latest demonstration comes amid months of persistent rallies triggered by the collapse of a railway station roof that resulted in 16 deaths.
During the gathering in Kraljevo, protesters held up lit cell phones and observed a moment of silence, later resuming with music, drums, and flares. The protests have highlighted allegations of widespread corruption and negligence within the government.
The ongoing demonstrations, led by students, have spread across the country, posing the most substantial challenge to President Aleksandar Vucic’s 12-year rule. Protesters have consistently voiced concerns over the government’s perceived incompetence and corruption, which they believe contributed to the tragic incident.
In contrast, President Vucic recently received support from thousands in towns across Serbia, Kosovo, and Bosnia who gathered in Belgrade. These supporters have expressed their backing of Vucic’s leadership amid the growing dissent.
