Washington D.C, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, emphasized the country’s readiness for investments in the IT, agriculture, minerals, and energy sectors during a meeting with members of various American chambers of commerce. He highlighted the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s (SIFC) role in creating a more investor-friendly environment in Pakistan.
According to Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C, Ambassador Khan made these remarks in a virtual meeting with representatives from the Pakistan-American Chamber of Commerce, Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Georgia, and Pakistan Chamber of Commerce of USA. The meeting also included business leaders like Mr. Salman Ajani, CEO of Amazing Energy Solutions, and Mr. Amir Piprani, President of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce USA.
This event marked the first time all Chambers of Commerce in the United States collectively discussed investment opportunities in Pakistan. Ambassador Khan encouraged Pakistani-American business leaders to invest in various sectors, highlighting the thriving business landscape in Pakistan. He noted the presence of 80 US companies in Pakistan, emphasizing the country’s readiness to welcome more foreign investment in key sectors.
Ambassador Khan also pointed out the recent growth in Pakistan’s tech startup sector, with venture capital funding reaching $1 billion annually and a tech startup turnover of $3 billion in the last fiscal year. He credited reforms in the tech sector, including the creation of E-wallets and a cashless revolution, for transforming Pakistan’s financial ecosystem.
The representatives of the chambers appreciated the initiatives of the Pakistani government and the establishment of the SIFC, expressing hope that it would bolster Pakistan’s economy. Ambassador Khan urged Pakistani American investors to form a trade mission to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The meeting concluded with plans to create a special portal on the Embassy of Pakistan’s website, linked to the SIFC webpage, to provide information on investment incentives in Pakistan. The Consul Generals of Pakistan in New York, Houston, Los Angeles, and Chicago committed to assisting the business community with timely information and briefings.
Mr. Amir Piprani extended an invitation to Ambassador Masood Khan to attend the annual dinner of the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce of the United States as the chief guest in December 2023.
