Maryam Nawaz Sharif Emphasizes Religious Harmony in Punjab


LAHORE: In a message marking World Interfaith Harmony Week, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif underscored the province’s commitment to religious inclusion and equality. She highlighted Punjab as a place where people can practice their faith freely and securely, reiterating her administration’s dedication to the principles of love, peace, and tolerance as foundational to a welfare society.



According to a statement by Chief Minister of Punjab, Sharif emphasized that religious teachings and cultural civility should guide individuals despite differences. She advocated for respect and harmony as the pillars of enduring peace and development, celebrating Pakistan’s diverse religious, cultural, and traditional tapestry.



Sharif further stated that every citizen in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, is entitled to equal rights. She noted ongoing efforts inspired by Quaid-e-Azam’s vision to protect minorities and ensure equal opportunities. These efforts include quarterly financial assistance through the Minority Card and the restoration of religious sites such as temples and churches.



The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government is officially celebrating minority festivals and has significantly increased the budget for minority welfare. Educational and employment avenues for minorities are being expanded as part of the broader initiative to foster a society rooted in love, brotherhood, and peace, devoid of extremism.
