Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif pledged to provide 100,000 houses to deserving families within a year during the inauguration ceremony of Zahra Homes/Maskan Ravi. She stated that 100 families have already received homes, expressing gratitude to Allah and commending RUDA and the Ministry of Housing for their swift completion of the project.
According to a statement by Chief Minister of Punjab, Sharif emphasized the dedication of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the country’s development, highlighting his role in transforming Pakistan into an atomic power and advancing infrastructure. She underscored the Punjab government’s commitment to transparency and merit in the allocation of homes.
Sharif revealed that 2.2 million families in Punjab lack housing, and the government aims to address this through the provision of interest-free loans and the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program. She detailed the financial assistance available, including loans of up to Rs. 1.5 million repayable over seven years without additional costs.
The Chief Minister announced that furniture would be provided as a gift to the first five houses under the program. She also mentioned plans to offer free residential plots to the needy, aiming to fulfill Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s vision for the province.
The housing initiative is part of a broader effort to improve living conditions in Punjab, with projects such as the Kisan Cards, Livestock Cards, and free medical services. Sharif highlighted ongoing infrastructure developments, including roads and hospitals, and the introduction of electric buses.
Sharif expressed her commitment to maintaining affordable food prices and announced upcoming projects to further support the people of Punjab.
