Islamabad, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, paying rich tributes to the martyrs of the Gaw Kadal tragedy, said their sacrifice will not go waste. APHC-AJK chapter Convener, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani, Syed Faiz Naqasbandi, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob and Shamim Shawl in their separate statements issued in Islamabad said that the unprecedented sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would surely bring positive results.
They said that the Indian soldiers had martyred over fifty innocent Kashmiris by firing indiscriminately on the peaceful protesters in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on January 21, 1990, and hundreds of people were injured. They were protesting against the molestation of several women by the Indian troops in the area.
The Hurriyat leaders said that India had occupied Jammu and Kashmir by force and had given a licence to its forces to kill the Kashmiri people. They deplored that Gaw Kadal, Aali Kadal, Bijbehara, Sopore and Handwara tragedies and many other massacres took place at the hands of Indian troops in the occupied territory, which are a stain on the so-called big democracy of India.
They said that it was the indifference of the international community that till now India had not been questioned about the tragedies and it is committing the worst kind of human rights violations in the occupied territory. The APHC-AJK leaders appealed to the United Nations and other international rights organizations to conduct an impartial investigation into the massacre of the Kashmiris in IIOJK and take strict action against Indian soldiers involved in war crimes.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat leaders also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Major General (Retd) Sardar Anwar Khan and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
