Martyrdom Anniversary of Sajjad Kenu Observed in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, The martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri liberation activist Sajjad Ahmad Kenu was solemnly commemorated today in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Kenu, a noted figure in the region’s struggle for freedom, was martyred by Indian forces on this day in 1996.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the remembrance events included tributes to Sajjad Kenu’s sacrifice for the Kashmiri cause. Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Chairperson Farida Behanji, in her statement from Srinagar, said that Kenu’s martyrdom was a result of prolonged mental and physical torture in Indian jails.

Behanji emphasized the Kashmiri people’s commitment to continuing the mission of their martyrs until complete success is achieved. She affirmed that all necessary sacrifices would be made to secure the right to self-determination for Kashmiris.

Other Hurriyat leaders echoed Behanji’s sentiments, highlighting the ongoing sacrifices, especially by the youth, in the quest for freedom from India’s illegal occupation. They stressed that India’s oppressive tactics would not deter Kashmiris from their legitimate struggle for self-determination.

The anniversary serves as a reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region and the continued aspiration of its people for autonomy and freedom.
