Karachi: Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, has introduced the Maritime Educational Endowment Fund, a new initiative aimed at providing scholarships to deserving and talented children in coastal communities.
In a statement made on Sunday, Minister Chaudhry emphasized the necessity of cultivating a skilled maritime workforce for the country’s future. The endowment fund is designed to promote inclusive development by granting access to quality education for youth from over seventy coastal and fishing communities, with a focus on the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
The initiative will be overseen by a dedicated committee, tasked with maintaining transparency, ensuring equitable distribution of scholarships, and implementing strong monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
Minister Chaudhry stated that the creation of the fund reflects the government’s broader commitment to education-driven empowerment in coastal regions.
