Imphal: Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh, has cautioned that continued inaction in resolving the state’s ongoing crisis may prompt mass resignations from both ruling BJP and opposition MLAs.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ibobi Singh addressed the media, stressing the immediate need to restore stability in Manipur. He warned that if effective measures are not implemented swiftly, lawmakers from both sides may be forced to resign collectively. “This situation is untenable, and if swift measures are not taken, both opposition and ruling party MLAs may be compelled to resign,” he stated.
Ibobi Singh further expressed that the people of Manipur oppose the imposition of President’s Rule, suggesting that such a move could worsen the situation. “Manipur’s residents seek meaningful action and solutions, not authoritarian measures,” he remarked.
This warning emerges as the state grapples with increasing violence and political uncertainty, with new incidents of unrest complicating the challenges faced by the BJP-led government.
