Lahore, After eluding authorities for over two decades, a man accused of a double murder in 1998 was arrested upon his return from Saudi Arabia. The arrest marks the end of a lengthy pursuit by Punjab Police, following the accused’s long absence abroad.
According to Punjab Police, the accused, Allah Dutta, was implicated in a violent attack on a police station in Mughalpura hawal in 1998, during which two individuals were killed. The incident also resulted in a deadly encounter where three of Dutta’s associates were killed by police. After the attack, Dutta fled the country, spending the next 26 years in Saudi Arabia.
Upon his return to Pakistan, Dutta was immediately apprehended and presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court. Judge Khalid Arshad has ordered a 14-day physical remand for further investigation. This case has been a significant point of interest due to its long-standing nature and the violent circumstances surrounding the initial crime.
