Karachi, In a significant meeting aimed at bolstering economic ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, Tan Sri Rastam Bin Mohd Isa, Chairman of Felda Global Venture (FGV), Malaysia’s largest palm oil producer, along with an 11-member delegation, met with Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori at the Governor’s House. The meeting focused on exploring investment opportunities and enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including palm oil cultivation.
According to Sindh Governor House, the meeting included discussions on strengthening Pakistan-Malaysia relations and increasing collaboration in diverse fields. Governor Tesori emphasized the mutual benefits of enhanced economic cooperation between the two countries. He expressed a keen interest in leveraging Malaysia’s expertise in palm oil cultivation for the development of this sector in Sindh province.
The Governor also highlighted the vast investment opportunities available in Sindh in areas such as health, education, energy, and agriculture. He suggested that joint projects in these sectors could lead to a new era of development in the province.
The Malaysian delegation briefed Governor Tesori about the 6th Pakistan Edible Oil Conference scheduled to be held at a local hotel on January 13. They extended an invitation to the Governor to attend the conference, which is a significant event in the edible oil industry.
In a gesture of cultural exchange, Governor Sindh presented the delegation members with traditional Sindhi caps and Ajrak. The delegation also took the opportunity to visit the marquee prepared for IT students and expressed appreciation for the Governor’s welfare initiatives, particularly in the field of IT education.
The delegation from FGV included several notable members such as Chief Financial Officer Muhammad Haril Abdul Hamid, Director FGV Fakhr Umayam Bin Othman, Head of Marketing Zul Qufli Bin Othman, CEO of Felda Trading Muhammad Azam Si Rajab, CEO KL Kepong Malaysia Tan Sri Dato Seri Lee Oi Hian, CEO Astra KL Ooi Liang Hin, Executive KL Tan Kwan Yung, and CEO Edible Oils Lim Jit Jei.
This meeting marks an important step in fostering closer economic and investment ties between Sindh and Malaysia, particularly in the palm oil industry, which is a key area of expertise for Malaysia.
