Majyd Aziz Calls for Annual Tripartite Labor Conference in Pakistan.

Islamabad: Majyd Aziz, former President of the Employers Federation of Pakistan, has urged the importance of holding the National Tripartite Labor Conference annually, highlighting the necessity for structured dialogue between workers and employers. Speaking as the keynote speaker on behalf of Pakistani employers in Islamabad, Aziz expressed concern over the 15-year gap since the last conference, emphasizing the need for regular discussions to address critical labor issues and implement effective solutions.

According to Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, Aziz underscored the significance of the government’s agreement to ratify crucial International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions 155 and 187, which focus on Occupational Safety and Health. He advocated for a proactive government approach in ratifying essential ILO Conventions, including Convention 190 concerning Harassment and Violence at the Workplace.

Aziz highlighted the Employers Federation of Pakistan’s (EFP) leading role in ensuring adherence to ILO International Labor Standards, fostering Best Business Practices, and upholding Workers Rights. He noted EFP’s pioneering efforts in initiatives such as WEBCOP, Skill Development Council, Economic Council, and the National Skills Passport. Additionally, EFP champions Gender Equality, Gender Justice, and the National Business and Disability Network.

Emphasizing EFP’s dedication to Social Dialogue, Aziz stated that this approach fosters a conducive environment for bilateral relations and has minimized labor unrest, attributing the success to platforms like WEBCOP. He referenced the First Sindh Tripartite Labor Conference held in December 2017 as a testament to successful social dialogue outcomes.

Aziz assured that EFP would continue to support and implement practical initiatives aimed at achieving industrial peace, harmony, and the overall progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
