Islamabad, As Pakistan gears up for its upcoming general elections, a new survey has indicated that a significant majority of its citizens are optimistic about the transparency of the electoral process and are prepared to accept the poll results. The survey, conducted by Pakistan Pulse, highlighted that 76 percent of Pakistanis are willing to accept the outcomes of the elections, with only 17 percent of respondents withholding their opinion.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the survey also revealed a nuanced perspective on electoral acceptance across different regions and demographics within the country. Notably, 77 percent of rural respondents expressed their readiness to accept the election results, compared to 74 percent from urban areas, suggesting a slightly higher level of confidence among the rural population.
The regional breakdown provided further insights, with 79 percent of respondents from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 78 percent from Punjab, 63 percent from Balochistan, 74 percent from Sindh, and 53 percent from Islamabad Capital Territory indicating their willingness to accept the election outcomes. Interestingly, among those who may prefer not to vote, 56 percent still said they would accept the poll results.
This widespread acceptance and trust in the electoral process underscore a collective belief among the Pakistani populace in the integrity of the polling process and the importance of democracy as a pathway to the nation’s progress and development.
