Nicosia: Major Sania Safdar of the Pakistan Army has been honored with the UN Gender Award in Cyprus, marking a significant recognition for her contributions to gender equality and peacekeeping efforts.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Major Sania is the first woman in the United Nations peacekeeping mission to receive this prestigious award, in acknowledgment of her dedicated efforts to promote the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. Her achievement highlights the Pakistan Army’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards and fostering gender equality within its ranks.
