Major Operation Targets Encroachments on Rawalpindi Railway Land

Rawalpindi: A significant operation has been launched to tackle encroachments on the Rawalpindi Railway Division’s land, directed by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. This initiative, backed by the civil administration, aims to reclaim valuable railway property and reinforce the government’s commitment to law enforcement.

The operation is spearheaded by DS Nooruddin Dawood and supported by the Railway Police, Anti-Encroachment staff, and local authorities. It focuses on recovering land that had been illegally occupied, including demolition of long-standing wooden structures near the Murid Railway Bridge. These structures had evolved from temporary shelters into permanent buildings over two decades, occupying approximately 14 kanal of land valued at millions of rupees.

Minister Abbasi underscored the operation’s significance, asserting the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal occupation of railway land. He emphasized that the initiative is driven by the need for legal compliance, railway system improvement, and public interest.

The Minister indicated that similar operations will extend nationwide, aiming to recover railway lands across the country. This effort is intended to safeguard the railway infrastructure and reinforce the government’s stance against encroachments, ultimately benefiting the public.
