Islamabad: Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi has called for active participation from local communities in disaster management efforts, underscoring their crucial role in delivering aid to affected populations.
Speaking at an event organized by the National Disaster Management Authority in observance of National Resilience Day, Magsi highlighted the importance of community involvement to ensure effective disaster response. He stressed that local communities must be integral to the aid distribution process during times of crisis.
Chairman of the NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, also addressed the gathering, applauding the Pakistani people’s resilience and unity in the face of disasters. He noted that the country’s response to previous emergencies has demonstrated a strong national spirit.
Malik further stated that the NDMA’s early warning system meets international standards, ensuring timely dissemination of disaster-related information to the public and relevant authorities. He also announced the establishment of a National Resource Network in Pakistan aimed at enhancing disaster management capabilities.
The event highlighted the ongoing efforts and future strategies of the NDMA to better prepare and respond to natural calamities, with an emphasis on community engagement as a vital component of these initiatives.
