Loralai University Hosts Olive Nursery Development and Training Program

Loralai: An inaugural ceremony marking the launch of a new olive nursery development program, alongside machinery maintenance and value chain capacity building training, was held at the University of Loralai, Balochistan. This initiative, supervised by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFS and R) Islamabad and supported by the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PEEF), aims to enhance the olive industry’s contribution to Pakistan’s economy.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ehsanullah Kakar as the chief guest. Dr. Khair Muhammad Kakar, Director General of the Pakistan Oilseed Department at MNFS and R, and Syed Abid Ali Bukhari, representing the Italian Project, were also present. They discussed the significant potential for training human resources and fostering economic development through the olive sector in Pakistan.

Dr. Ehsanullah Kakar emphasized that the program is pivotal for training individuals in the olive sector, elevating the socio-economic status of farmers, creating job opportunities for the youth, and promoting the integration of olive businesses within the national economy. The session also featured dialogue on the importance of continuous engagement with the government to ensure the sector’s growth and sustainability.
