Loralai Strike Ends as Officials and Student Groups Reach Agreement on College Issues

Loralai: A strike that disrupted traffic and daily activities in Loralai has come to an end following successful negotiations between student organizations and local officials. Assistant Commissioner Loralai Ajmal Khan Mandukhel, together with representatives from various political parties, mediated discussions that addressed multiple grievances concerning Loralai Boys Degree College. The college has been facing significant issues such as teacher shortages, lack of facilities, and security concerns.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the student protest took place at Bacha Khan Chowk, where demonstrators closed DG Khan Road to all traffic. The protest was organized by the student organizations of Loralai Boys Degree College and saw participation from the district deputy secretary of Pashtun-Khwa Milli Awami Party Loralai, Vakil Ahmad Jan Nasir, Attaullah Utmanakhil, and leaders from other political parties and organizations.

A resolution came after a delegation of college teachers engaged in talks with the protesting student groups. These discussions also involved the college principal and other key figures such as Shah Khalid of PSF, P.S. Ayaz Kakar of Pashtun Khawap, and Hasan Al-Banna, NSM leader of Islamic Jamiat Students. The primary issues raised during the talks included the absence of adequate teaching staff, the absence of a football ground, security concerns, hostel accommodations, availability of clean water, an incomplete building structure, and inadequate funding for essential resources.

The parties involved have agreed to take immediate steps to address these problems. Both teachers and student organizations, along with political parties, have committed to a joint effort to resolve the remaining issues to improve the educational environment and infrastructure of Loralai Boys Degree College.
