Loralai Division Ramps Up Efforts Against Polio Amid Provincial Outbreak

Loralai: Commissioner Loralai Division, Saadat Hasan, emphasized the urgency of eradicating polio, a devastating disease affecting children, stating that the government is dedicating significant resources to combat this health crisis. A recent meeting convened health officials and law enforcement to intensify the anti-polio campaign across the region, highlighting the critical situation and the ongoing efforts to safeguard children from this incurable disease.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, during the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Ayaz reported that while 17 polio cases have been confirmed province-wide this year, no new cases have emerged in the Loralai division. However, the presence of the polio virus in environmental samples indicates ongoing risks. Commissioner Hasan declared the anti-polio drive a national emergency and called for stringent monitoring by district commissioners and health officers.

The session also addressed the challenges faced by local teams, including the need for enhanced training and the formation of new teams to ensure comprehensive coverage. The commitment at the divisional level reflects a concerted effort to prevent further polio cases and ultimately achieve eradication.
