Srinagar, November 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have imposed a lockdown for 10 days in Srinagar and adjoining areas in the name of ‘Corona curfew’. The lockdown has been imposed particularly in 14 areas including Lal Bazar, Hyderpora, Chanapora, Bemina Hamdania Colony and Bemina Housing Colony in Srinagar district. The curfew has been enforced from intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
“There has been a steep rise in COVID positive cases in Srinagar in the past 17 days which needs interventional and effective measures,” the deputy commissioner said. “There shall be 24 hours complete corona curfew with no movement of people except for permissible activities only,” the order said. He ordered that all shopping complexes, bazaars, saloons, barbar shops, cinema halls, restaurants, sports complexes, gym, spas, swimming pools, parks and zoos shall remain closed.
Meanwhile, three people died of COVID-19 infections while 125 fresh cases were reported in the territory. The deaths occurred in the Kashmir valley. No death from the virus was reported in Jammu and Ladakh regions.
Out of the fresh cases, 92 COVID positive were recorded from the Kashmir valley, 19 from the Jammu region and 14 from Ladakh region. On the other hand, the officials said there were 49 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in Kashmir valley and Jammu region.
