Islamabad, The Land Information and Management System (LIMS) has introduced a new mobile phone application designed to monitor the cleaning and repair of canals, marking a significant step in leveraging technology for infrastructure maintenance.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, LIMS organized a training session at its main office to familiarize officers of the irrigation department with the new application. This session was a critical component of the initiative, ensuring that the relevant personnel are equipped to use the app effectively.
The app will enable LIMS to oversee the maintenance of an extensive network of canals, totaling 22,000 km in length. The monitoring process will be enhanced through the use of drones and satellite technology, allowing for more efficient and effective management of canal cleaning and repair operations.
