License Deadline Passes in Islamabad, Unlicensed Drivers Face Legal Action

ISLAMABAD: The deadline for obtaining driving licenses in Islamabad concluded on October 7, prompting the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to commence strict legal measures against unlicensed drivers. This follows directives from Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Hamza Humayun reported that from September 1 to October 7, 128,000 citizens processed their driving licenses, reflecting a substantial 540% increase in issuance. This marks a significant milestone, being the largest increase in eight years.

The ITP facilitated the process by operating two major centers and mobile facilitation vans around the clock, providing citizens with ample opportunities to obtain their licenses.

Starting today, the ITP will enforce strict legal action against those who drive without valid licenses. Citizens are urged to carry their driving licenses while traveling. Those without a license are advised to visit police service centers, traffic offices, or mobile facilitation vans to obtain a learner’s permit.

The Islamabad Traffic Police remains committed to ensuring road safety and legal compliance among drivers in the capital.
