Lahore: Recruitment efforts for three critical posts within the Saeed Ahmad Awan Centre for Improvement Working Condition and Environment, Punjab Labour and Human Resource Department have hit a legal snag. The positions, which are integral to the department’s functioning, are now subject to a high court deliberation that may extend to Pakistan’s apex court, causing significant delays.
According to Public Service Commission Punjab, the positions affected include a Programme Coordinator, an IT Coordinator, and an Environment Health and Safety Officer. These posts were originally advertised on September 19, 2023, under the advertisement number 16/2023. However, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has returned the requisitions for these positions as of October 2, 2024, due to ongoing adjudication in the Lahore High Court. The matter’s complexity suggests it could eventually escalate to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The PPSC has assured that fees paid by applicants will remain valid for one year, providing an opportunity for applicants to consider other roles within the commission’s purview during this period. This decision aims to mitigate the inconvenience to applicants and ensure that the recruitment process, when resumed, can proceed efficiently.
