Legal Channels Open for Election Complaints, Says Information Minister

Islamabad, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, emphasized today that legal avenues are open for addressing any grievances related to the election process. In remarks made to the media in Islamabad, Solangi assured that candidates with election-related complaints have the right to seek redress through legal forums.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Minister highlighted the efforts of the Balochistan Government in addressing issues in accordance with national laws and expressed optimism for a swift resolution to the people’s challenges.

Solangi also touched on the procedural aspects of convening the National Assembly session, noting that he would sign the summary to call the session at a legally appropriate time. He outlined the legal timeline for election procedures, stating that the Election Commission of Pakistan is required to notify election results within 14 days following the election. Furthermore, he explained that the President has the authority under Article 91 of the Constitution to summon a session of the National Assembly within 21 days post-election, a period concluding on the 29th of the current month, allowing for the possibility of summoning a session anytime until then.

The Minister clarified constitutional provisions regarding the election of the Prime Minister, the Speaker, and the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, stating that any member of the assembly is eligible to contest for these positions.

Solangi’s statements come at a crucial time, providing clarity on the legal procedures and timelines following the elections, and reinforcing the government’s commitment to adhering to legal and constitutional protocols in the election process.
