Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed a firm commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking during the observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Thursday. Both leaders emphasized the importance of cooperation among government entities, civil society, and international partners in this fight.
The President highlighted the significant role played by the Anti-Narcotics Force under the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control in combating drug-related issues. He stressed the need for public awareness, particularly targeting youth, to foster a safer society.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the challenge posed by drug abuse and trafficking and called for a collective resolve among individuals and communities to support government efforts. He praised law enforcement agencies for their sacrifices and relentless work towards making Pakistan drug-free.
Both leaders reiterated that drug abuse contradicts international obligations and societal norms, urging united efforts to address and eliminate the issue.
